2011 to 2014

There has been a steady trickle of comment from members as to their activities over December and January. Rob Ripley let slip that he had gone to look at one of the boats advertised for sale and came home with it. (Our commiserations go to Pat) Rob has since spent a very happy time going over the rig and getting the little trailer sailer ready for use. Frank Raisin and Paul Rubera have been taking part in the Tawe Nunnugah 2013 Raid being held up the SE coast of Tasmania from Cockle Creek up to Hobart via the inner waters to Dover, Bruny Island, Cygnet and other small towns along the way. They are to reach Hobart in time for the Wooden Boat Festival.

Chris Kelly and Andrew Cohen pulled their Golant gaffer “Two Sues” up on the slip for antifouling and repair during January. She looks spic and span and is back in the water with a fine black coat of antifoul. When last seen Andrew and Chris were hard at work restoring the rigging and sails back to their former positions. January has been a busy month for Geoff Carroll working on his gaff rigged cutter. The cabin now has a roof and the side decks are in place. The fore and side decks together with the roof have been glassed and the cabinet work in the cabin is complete. There was even a test run of the spirit stove to see how it worked. Andrew Yen has been making plans to take his son, Orlando, with him to see all the lovely wooden boats. This should inject new enthusiasm into Andrew to keep up the work on his own project.

Jim and Penny have contributed an article about their holidays. Leigh McNolty has spent a busy few weeks teaching sailing at the Royal Victorian Yacht Squadron as well as making sure the president was ready for the first committee meeting of the year.
