The members who came to our June club night were treated to a presentation by Warren and Roi from Marine Timbers in Seaford. They are building up the company and seeking to re-establish it as a source of supply and service for the amateur boat building community. Roi gave a short presentation on many of the products on offer and then led a discussion on the uses of glues such as Bote Cote epoxies and Purbond. He provided a good update on some of the developments that have been made recently.
Included in the discussion was a session on the varying qualities of plywoods and the range of certified marine grade plywoods available from Marine Timbers. Together with the questions and contributions from the audience, it proved to be an interesting and very informative evening. Our thanks go to Andrew Cohen who made the arrangement for Warren and Roi to come and make their presentation. WBA members can find Marine Timbers at their new site at Unit 2/82 Brunel Rd in Seaford.
During the evening, Alan Chinn made available to members some of the books that have been passed on to the Association from various generous donors. For a simple gold coin donation the books were able to be purchased. At coming events Alan hopes to make more books available so members should be on the look out for these on the tables near the library.
