melbourne boat show 2023

The Melbourne Boat Show is running, in Docklands, from 3pm on Thursday 26 October until 4pm Sunday 29 October, and the WBA has been invited to be involved.

We are asking members to consider displaying a boat and to volunteer to be on site to answer questions from the public.

Nick Atkins has graciously offered us space in the Victorian Wooden Boat Centre’s workshop, so several boats can be displayed in there, and some can be displayed in front of his building and wheeled back into the workshop at night.

Unfortunately, the boat show clashes with our weekend away, but we are hoping that there will be members who are not going to Paynesville who will be able to put their boats on display, and be on hand to promote the WBA to attendees.

As a way of giving visitors an idea of what we do, Nick has proposed donating a “small boat” kit which we could put together during the boat show, and we could then use the finished boat as the major prize in our Christmas raffle.

When the WBA has exhibited at some earlier Melbourne Boat Shows we have awarded a “best WBA wooden boat on display” prize, and we are planning to do this again this year, as a "people’s choice" award, where visitors to our exhibit will be able to vote for the boat or their choice.

Voters will go into a draw for a WBA membership for the year, and the owner of the winning boat will be provided with a WBA membership to give to a friend.

If you are able to display your boat, or come along to spend time on the WBA stand, please contact Andrew Cohen, on 0408 033 573 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
