Twelve brave members attended the June club night. The weather was freezing but there was a warmth of interest for the various plans and books shared.
Hugh Jones gave an entertaining and informative talk on the building of his Haven 12½ Polly. Hugh showed the plans and explained how he adapted them to build her in strip planking. There were many interesting questions in regard to the history of Hugh’s boat. Hugh explained that he has since sold Polly and David Gibson was able to update her history as his neighbour on Raymond Island was the one who bought Hugh’s boat.
Leigh McNolty had some rather historic plans of a sharpie which he had been given. These were studied with some interest. The plans for a canoe were also on show by David Gibson The meeting proved to be both informative and a journey into history. Many thanks to those who brought along plans and books to contribute to the evening.
